Tony has not only proven himself in the show ring (ARC Top Ten 2000, Group Winner), he has proven to be a superior working dog as well. In October of 2001, after traveling all day with his trainer, Andreas Mueller, Tony arrived in Southern Idaho and competed for his SchH 1 and AD. Not only did Tony pass both, he was High Scoring Rottweiler in Trial with a score of 265a and received a 95 in protection. In December of 2001, when Tony competed for his SchH 2, he was not only ’01 USRC Southwest Regional SchH 2 Champion, he was also High in Trial at the Regional Championship. In April of 2002, Tony competed for his SchH 3 and was again High Scoring Rottweiler In Trial as well as High In Trial with a SchH 3 score of 277a (93-91-93). It must be noted that all trials except the BST were done under SV German Shepherd judges. Tony passed all three Schutzhund levels and his BST on the first attempt and has always been pronounced in courage.
To our knowledge, no dog has ever been in the ARC Top Ten, including Multi Best in Specialty Show Winning, in conformation as well as a Top Ten Schutzhund 3 Competitor, including Multi High in Trial, and an ARC Top Producer. We believe Tony may be the first to accomplish this goal. In 2000, Tony only had 5 litters over 6 months old, the oldest only 2, and he was tied for 2nd ARC Top Producer with 8 champions. For 2004, Tony won the ARC Ch Pico vom Hegestraugh Award for the greatest number of working titled get.
I would like to take this time to personally thank Nicola Davis (Lundregan) of Wyndhurst Rottweilers and Tony’s breeder, Perry Payson, for allowing me to purchase Tony from them in 1999 and entrusting him with me. Tony has been a wonderful addition to our family as well as made a great impact on the breed, both as a show and working dog as well as stud dog. Further, I would like to thank his handlers Cheryl Cates and Correy Krickeberg as well as his Schutzhund trainer Andreas Mueller for all of their hard work with Tony.
We lost Tony on April 20, 2008 but he is here with us at Nighthawk in spirit. Frozen semen is available.
